About

Kayla Byrnes is a UX designer and illustrator from Washington D.C.

She graduated from James Madison University with a BFA in Graphic Design and minors in Studio Art & Book Arts. After graduating, Kayla moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she worked as a graphic designer in the healthcare industry. In her free time, she illustrated children’s books and explored the local brunch and brewery scene before moving back to the D.C. area.

Prior to joining Microsoft as a Senior User Experience and User Interface Designer, Kayla worked as an interactive designer for the federal government where she designed application/web interfaces, illustrated, and created motion graphics.

Outside of work, Kayla designs article, photo, and stat compilations for pro-athletes and continues to illustrate children’s books. She has a strong background in fine art, but loves developing new technical skills in her free time. This led her to becoming fully certified in Power Platforms for Canvas App design and Cinema 4D for 3D modeling.
